THE WRONG DOOR
I once read of a individual who, in a hotel in New York noticed that his bed was on fire. He ran to a door, opened it and slammed it behind him. Then he discovered he had gone into a clothes closet and could't get out.
In the meantime, others in the hotel smelled the smoke, sounded the alarm and fireman soon came to put out the fire. During that time they heard a pounding on the closet door - opened it and released the frightened imprisoned man.
I think this may be the way some react to a disturbance in their life. When things get "hot" they immediately run to a door - and perhaps with out even thinking.
There is, my friend a wrong door through which one can enter. In Zechariah 9:12 the words are,
These people are commanded to turn (or return) to the stronghold
which evidently refers to the Lord. He is declared to
be the stronghold of his people. This leads me to write
that since Jesus (declared by himself) to be the door, one
must run to the right door. The "world" offers so many "dead end" doors. The "Way" (Jesus) is such a right door. Trust me!
In your difficulty - with hope in your heart - run to and
in Jesus. You will find safety there. All other doors will
find one trapped. And the good thing is HEis always a "handle-turn" away - and with a smilling face. "Glad you came."
Lord, I ask that this one
run to your open arms and in them find safety. In
and through your door will be peace and peace and
peace. No longer will one be in the prison closet
of despair, guilt or unbelief. I ask that freedom
be given this one through Jesus. Amen
